WINTER has come early to the Hunter with the Barrington Tops receiving its first dusting of snow for the year.
Publican of the Victoria Hotel Moonan Flat Peter Barnett said the unseasonable weather had drawn hundreds of people to the area in the hope of witnessing a snow shower.
‘‘It snowed yesterday and all last night, we woke up to very white conditions this morning,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s really early, usually we don’t see this until July, August, September time of year.
‘‘We’ve had hundreds of people stopping in for lunch on their way up the mountain or their way back. There only needs to be something on the radio or in the paper about the possibility of snow and we’re inundated with phone calls and visitors.’’
