New book: INSPIRED by research for her first book Postcards from the Front, local author Margaret Clark has now written Carmichael's 1000 due for release this week. Last call for nominations: MANNING Winter Festival Committee has decided to extend the deadline for nominations for the 2014 Visual and Performing Arts Awards to Tuesday, May 6. The committee encourages the people of the Manning to think about the talented people among us and put pen to paper and submit nominations for the awards.

Bowelscan: ROTARY clubs across the district will be selling Bowelscan kits this month and Rotarians will be encouraging everyone over the age of 40 to take the test. For $12, this simple test can prove a life saver. Bowelscan kits will be available from both pharmacies in Wingham during May as well as from the Wingham Rotary stall in the plaza between May 10-17.

Ironman: Wingham will be strongly represented on Sunday in the Australian Ironman Triathlon at Port Macquarie. Among the 1500 starters will be Matt Watson, Michael Farrow and Gerry Ryan. Mat Worth, a former Wingham boy who now lives at Diamond Beach, will also compete.
