The inaugural Manning Madness Professional Bullriding Event comes to Wingham this Saturday, April 19.
Organiser and former professional bull rider Pete Farley and his Blue Moon Bullriding company, in conjunction with the Wingham Show Society, are excited to present this thrill packed event for bull riding fans.
Sanctioned by PBR Australia, fans won’t be disappointed.
Pete was known as something of a dragon-slayer, and earned fame for riding “unrideable” bulls. They call bull riding ‘the toughest sport on dirt.’ It’s tough, dirty and dangerous.
Pete has not been on a bull for two years since suffering a career ending injury at his family farm at Aldavilla. But he still wanted to stay in touch with his extended bull riding family and so he ventured into running specialised bull riding events throughout Australia.
With a special connection to Wingham through his involvement over the years in the Summertime Rodeo and Glowalman events, Pete is hoping to make the Manning Madness an annual event in the friendly town.
MORE than 40 of the country’s top bull riders will compete on the night but it’s not just the riders that will be the country’s best.
Bulls from as far afield as Warwick and Chinchilla in Queensland, will definitely test their rider’s skills.
These ‘superstar’ bulls will be giving the riders a whole lot of big and scary action.
Animal welfare is of the highest priority and the bulls are not harmed in any way. They are treated like the superstars they are!
Some of the featured bulls include:
* Mick Shultz’s “Freaky Force” from Gloucester, NSW is 3-1/2 years old. Sired by US bull “-60”, Freaky Force has won over $4000 competing in bull competitions as a two year old. Unridden thus far.
* K3F’s “Mud Bomb” from Kempsey, NSW is five years old and the grandson of famed PBR bull “Mossy Oak Mudslinger”. Mud Bomb has been featured in the championship round of major PBR events across NSW. Watch for other notable bulls “Mad At Ya” and “Prescriptions”.
* Mitch Russell’s “Bring It” from Maitland NSW holds the 2013 ABCRA Bucking Bull of the Year title and was featured as $4000 bounty bull at the “Farley Brothers Charity Bullriding” 2013. Unridden through entire career.
Wingham will be proud to see one of its own amongst the big names as Ben Gallagher takes on the junior section.
With over two year’s experience, Ben has gained local sponsorship from Wingham Taxis and will no doubt have the local crowd cheering him on as he competes in the Battle of the Junior Bulls.
ALL riders will compete in the “Long Round” with the top 10 then going through to the championship round. The highest scorer on two bulls will be deemed the champion.
There will also be a junior bull riding event attracting some of the best local talent.
“The Manning Madness is an event that will bring riders, families and thrill seeking fans from far and wide,” Farley said.
"It’s professional bull riding at its best!" Kempsey local and promoter Pete Farley, from Blue Moon Bull Riding in conjunction with the Wingham Show Society, urges all to attend this family friendly event."
See the in-form riders and bulls deliver some spectacular rides, and don’t forget to cheer on our local brave riders who will also be stepping up for the thrill of their lives.
