Barry Seghers, Wendy McKeough and Barry Ruddell were in Wingham on Wednesday to present the cheque to president of the Manning Valley Historical Society Barbara Waters.
According to Barbara the funds will be used to upgrade the existing railway display. Plans are being finalised but Barbara said it would be nice to get a proper display cabinet to better showcase the existing rail memorabilia.
Up until 2012 the Museum didn’t have much in the way of railway memorabilia but donations of items suddenly came in the lead up to the Centenary of Rail. Barbara said that now more space can be allocated to rail history she hopes that some interesting new items are donated by members of the community.
The Historical Society is particularly interested in items that have a local rail connection.
