State Emergency Services (SES) has been coordinating clean-up efforts with Greater Taree City Council crews after heavy rains and winds yesterday across the Manning Valley.

Residents have reported to the SES over 85 “tree down” requests for assistance, from Harrington, Moorland and Lansdowne in the north, down to Possum Brush in the south, and across to Belbora, Firefly and Kimbriki areas.
Taree and Wingham were the areas with the most number of calls for help.
“Due to the large number of residents affected and the widespread range of the damage, green waste disposal fees will be waived,” said Gerard José, general manager. “Residents dropping off green waste at the Bucketts Way Landfill will not be charged through to the end of this month.”
After surveying damage on Monday morning, Council staff have seen that damage to trees across public areas was reasonably widespread, but nothing major so far has been reported. Council crews have confirmed they are extremely busy and are continuing to work with the SES to clear storm debris.
Motorist are advised to proceed with caution in all areas until roadways and access are fully cleared, and to please slow down around work crews and drive to conditions.
