The February outing of the Wingham Services Bluewater Fishing Club was again hampered by weather conditions which resulted in only a couple of boats getting out to wet a line.
The weigh in held on Sunday following the usual barbecue lunch, was quickly dispensed with as only a small quantity of fish were caught.
Winner of the Bluewater Section went to regular Wayne Reeves whilst a new family to join the club, The Moore Family, consisting of mum Belinda, dad Rodney and junior fisher son Thomas fished in the river and weighed in some flathead which resulted in Rodney scoring the vouchers for the river Section
Thomas was asked to draw the winner of the club vouchers and the winning ticket was held by Carol McGann - a first time winner.
In all some 28 folk gathered for the barbecue at which president Jack Muxlow extended a warm welcome to all including the Moore family and said it was good to see members Donna and Wayne Sullivan with us.
Three members were celebrating birthdays and these were Sharon Atkins, Saturday 15th, Steve McGann Tuesday 11th and Derek Boughton for Monday 17th and to mark the event a delicious cake was produced by Marie Boughton.
President Jack Muxlow reminded members that March will see two outings take place the first on March 15-16 and second on March 29-30.
In between the two outings on Saturday March 22, the annual club presentation and dinner will be held at the Wingham Services Club auditorium with tickets going on sale at the club reception desk, cost is $25 per person.
