Accepting the cheque last Friday was RFS Group Four captain Ian Sirett and Wallaby Joe captain Bob Pope.
The money was raised through special Bushfire Awareness advertising campaigns in recent issues of the newspaper with a percentage of the advertising being donated to the RFS.
Bob Pope said the funds are to be spread out among the local units and will be used for the purchase of new equipment. The units who will receive funds are: Wallaby Joe (Wingham), Killabakh, Wherrol Flat, Bulga, Mooral Creek, Marlee and Bobin. Both Bob and Ian said they were very grateful for receiving the funds and Elaine said it would not have been possible without the generosity and support of the businesses that advertised in the features.
