The teams have been picked early and Hayden will play at the State championships on the Central Coast in February 2014.
Hayden has been playing cricket since he was nine and enjoys representing Wingham in the Wingham under 12 team coached by John Delaney.
He also plays for the Manning under 12 representative side and will play with the Mid North Coast under 12 team in Lismore in January.
Travel is very much on the agenda now. Hayden will travel to Newcastle at weekends for the six weeks leading up for the State championships for training.
It would seem that cricket runs in the Essery blood with dad, Matt and brother, Josh both playing for Wingham sides. Matt was also captain of the Wingham Public School boys cricket team that won the 1985 PSSA Cricket Knockout. Hayden is fortunate to be able to turn his hand to most sports and as well as cricket he plays golf and rugby league.
Dad Matt said Hayden's goal for next year is to make the State team but his sporting ambition ultimately is to play NRL rugby league for St George Illawarra.
