ANOTHER week in paradise has again seen very little rain, just wind, wind and more wind and not all that was from nature. We certainly need some rain especially as we have a number of big events scheduled over the next few weeks.

Saturday Competition
LAST Saturday a good field of 80 players competed for the Taree Motorama Monthly Mug/MRD Electrical Medals and Kangaroofing Long Drives. Despite the great amount of run, the course was again the winner with scoring difficult. The best score of the day was a net 64 from visitor, Brian Falk. As Brian was a visitor he cannot win major trophies and so only won the A grade net. Best of the locals and so winner of the Monthly Mug and the B grade Medal, was Jim Weeks with net 67. In the other two grades Josh Meldrum won the A grade medal and Ben Marron won scratch. B grade net winner was Earle Braham with net 70 just beating several players on net 71, one of whom was Steve Allwood, winner of the scratch on a countback from Craig Harrison. C grade was a little more straightforward with Laurie Dege winning the net and the MRD Electrical Medal with a 68, again on a countback, this time from an unlucky Tony Toms. Balls went out to 74 net, with Jim Broadbent the last winner. John Hynes was the only player to get an eagle and got one ball as a reward for his effort.
In the Kangaroofing Long Drive competition, only two grades were finalised with A grade to be run again this Saturday due to the "winner" being ineligible due to a previous win in September. In the other grades Mone Vilayrack won B grade and Damian Welsh was too good for the rest in C grade.
The nearest to the pin competition was a bit harder to win this week with the difficult pin positions, but that did not worry Craig Harrison in winning the Bent on Food prize for the 9th/18th hole. As a result of his good shot Craig also won the Caddies Restaurant "Shot of the Week" prize. Well done Craig. Other winners were Jim Weeks the Plaza Butchers 1st/10th, John Aldous the Wingham Gourmet Meats 3rd/12th, Jamie Greenaway the All About Conveyancing 4th/13th port hole, John Hynes the 6th/15th Manning Natural Healing hole and Bill Sullivan won the 7th/16th Bayview Seafoods hole.
Wednesday Veterans
ANOTHER good field of 52 players played for the "Whinge and Win" trophy, a single stableford event. Captain Bill Osborne's steady game resulted in a win with 44 points, one ahead of Taree visitor John Thompson with David Blair third on 40 points. In the NTP competition Bill Millward won the 3rd/12th with a good shot and Rex White did likewise to win the 7th/16th.
LJ Hooker Thursday Chook Run
EVERGREEN Bob "Chubby" Yarnold had a good day last Thursday in the LJ Hooker Chook Run and combined with his generous handicap managed 24 big points. This just beat John Thorburn who also had 24 points, but lost on a countback. Next best was retired "schoolie" Dave Elliott with 22 points, then Dave Andrews with 21 points on a countback. NTP winners were Craig Harrison on the 3rd and Dave Elliott again on the 7th.
Friday Ladies Golf
FRIDAY Ladies had an enjoyable day Friday last with the temperature dropping several degrees from Thursday. Sharon Juozaitis was however, "hot" returning the great score of 25 points to win the event. Next came Bev Bisby, Debbie Stewart, Connie Gates, Pat Whiteley, Dot Clarke, Jan Baker, Margaret Earley and Beth Braham. Marcia Fowler hit a good shot to win the NTP and also was the best of the long markers.
