WEDNESDAY morning was Rex Thomas's dream come true outing when when he broke his drought and combined with Mick Hollebone and Guy Watts to down the very consistent Peter Williams who had with him Eric Weir and Ben Wolters. The margin was plus 14 and Red took home the spoils which had been avoiding him for some time. The runners-up were Brian Williams, Helmut Fischer and Bryan Page with their plus eight against Stan Burnell-Jones, Dick Connell and John Magree. In the remaining game Greg Bartlett, Col Webster and Tim Richardson got up by a shot over Col Hinton, Dallas Hammond and Tim as the swinging lead.
THIS 5.30pm start event attracted 30 players and the winners being drawn from the cards went to Paul Swan, Snow and Rob Trenchard who downed Barry Smith, Poter Howarth and Tony Colechin by three shots. Runners up were Brad Humphries, Jay
Kliendinst and Glen Pope who put it all over Nick Savage, Darren Robinson and Jack Kirkman by 22 shots. In a vey close game Hunter Payton skipped his crew of John Black and Jim Gillogly to a 10-8 victory over hightly rated visitors, Chris Dunn, Damien Pennings and Ian Vandenberg. Tony Lowman teamed up with Mick Hollebone and John Crossingham to win 19-12 against Peter Tutty, John Gillogly and Alan Cox and the remaining game went to Mark Hammond, David O'Donnell and Brian Flood 15-7 over Wayne Goward, Neville Bell and Peter Brown.
Friday Mixed Open
LEONIE Gilford is making a name for herself on the green and this time she teamed up with the 'old fox' Ron Lollback to win the event with a plus nine over Glen Gilford and Elaine Holden. Runners up with 49 years of 'teamwork' behind them were Jim and Robyn Gillogly with a plus eight victory against Peter Holden and Janet Nash. Coming with a plus six margin were George Floyd, June Pedron and Peter Tutty against John Black, Judy Stone and Guy Watts.
TWENTY eight took to the bottom green and there were some very interesting results with two games of triples and the remainder being pairs. The winning pair came from a draw of those cards and it went to the 'fortunate' Chris Kane and Mick Hollebone with a 20-15 victory over Peter Williams and Robyn Gillogly. Chris's luck continued throughout the day by winning the 100 club draw and a couple of nags that got home for him. Runners up (against a draw of the cards) had visitor Michael Clarke and Leonie Gilford take home vouchers even though they went down to the Holden father and son combination of Peter and Scott 22-9. Tom Moore, Peter Wilson and Peter Kriss showed no mercy to their opponents Howard Snelson, Ben Wolters and Glen Gilford with a score of 35-12. Adrian Yeo came back to the game after a delayed spell to combine with Norma Platt and Gerry De Pyper to down Laurie Mullen, Dallas Hammond and Nick Savage 28-18. Lillian Cross kept her partner - Graeme Ireland - focused to come up with a two shot win over Brian Williams and Daniel Leadbeater. Jim Gillogly and Snow Trenchard made a big recovery after being down 18-6 to go into the winners bucket against Peter Hall and Col Hinton by winning the most ends even though the game ended 20 apiece.
