It takes a lot of effort to 'catch' a woman out however it happened twice on Friday evening, the first time inside licensed premises wheN SHE (un-named) was observed pinching a respectable male patron on the buttock and the second time on the green when she put one of her bowls down on the wrong bias and became the first lady to be fined (by her husband) for such an offence.
In other games that evening winners were Jim Gillogly and Graham Walker with their +11 victory over Janet Nash and Dick Marriott. Runners up also with a +11 were Glen Dennes and Karen Charlton and they accounted for visitors from Bay Way Village John Wittig and L Barber. The 'lucky' card winners were Elaine Holden and Brian Howard even though they went down by a shot to Lillian Cross and F Douglass. In the remaining games G Barber and J Douglas won against Richard Ayre and Kerry Jones. Robert Clayden and Trevor Cummings got up against Ron Lollback and Barry Wrightson. Peter Holden and Norma Platt won against Peter Streetfield and Mick Hollebone. Judy Stone and K Menzies had a victory over Alan Cox and Lotty Dennes.
BAY Way Village men from the Stockton area came into town on Friday afternoon and after some rolling up, some joined in the mixed event and all turned up on Saturday and some again on Sunday morning.
In Saturday games the visitors made efforts to down the locals but just failed to do that except for two rinks with final score favouring the Tigers 85 shots to 76.
On Sunday at 9.30am 15 of the visitors remained standing and again made efforts to match our locals but that ended in a draw.
It was a big week for bowlers in Wingham with a total of 212 participating in various games including the women with their pairs tournament.
Open mixed in club attire.
