WORK has started on the Wingham Heritage Mural on Primrose Street.
Members of Wingham Advancement Group (WAG) prepared the surface ready for artist Jenny Hooper to recreate the design. They cleaned the deteriorating wall first with a pressure cleaner and then with scrapers and wire brushes to achieve a suitable surface for the repainting. WAG members then painted the base coat with brushes and rollers, assisted by retired professional painter John Mooney who volunteered his time and equipment.
Artist Jenny has now begun the big job of repainting the mural and has been battling intense heat and windy conditions. We will bring you the full story in a future edition of the Chronicle.
