JACK Pie teamed up with Ben Wolters to take out the event with a +5 against Greg Bartlett and Peter Wilson.
In other very close contests Daniel Leadbeater, Rex Thomas and Jake Kennett got a +3 over Mal Cannon, John Magree and Bryan Page; Barry Kershaw, Dallas Hammond and Guy Watts had a +2 against Stan Burnell-Jones, Mick Hollebone and Tim Richardson; Peter Williams and Dick Connell also had a +2 against Jim Gillogly and Col Webster.
THIS event got underway after the winter break with 18 players getting the feel of the green again. Play gets underway at 5.30pm and normally finishes at about 7.30pm so for any prospective players this is a good opportunity to meet up with some nice fellas and learn more about the game.
Tony Lowman and J Crossingham went down by 14 shots to Barry Smith and Peter Kriss, who by the way, can now consider himself as a 'professional' as having played in some club championships.
Hunter Payton and son Rod combined well to down Mark Hammond and David O'Donnell.
Daniel Leadbeater and Garry Williams were too good for Snow and Rod Trenchard.
And in a very tight game of triples Peter Tutty led his crew of Peter Howarth and T Cevechin to win against John Black, Brandon Zuerb and Bill Crockett.
SOME loyal members turned up to have a game and they were Howard Snelson, Peter Wilson, Chris Kane, Ben Wolters, Glen and Leonie Gilford and Dallas Hammond and visitor Wayne Keegan while Graeme Ireland was the standby player missing out on the fun. At the weekend quite a few of our men went to Gloucester for the Barrington Cup and on Friday some ladies were absent near the seaside getting some money.
There were insufficient numbers for the Friday mixed, however, it is certainly on this week so get your names on the sheet as the greens are in very good condition and the refreshments are still pouring okay as well there are plenty of raffle prizes to be won.
Once again this Saturday event will be 'open' and club attire is required.
A reminder that the entry sheet is on the board and teams can be entered.
