THIS year's champions are Jake Hinton as skip, Col Watson played second and John Hones as lead and they deserved their title by leading their opposition Tom Moore, Laurie Mullen and Tor Proctor throughout the encounter with the final score being 28-18. There was a glimmer of light on the 22nd end when Tom's crew picked up four shots to get within five shots but they then fell away to let their opponents take the title.
GREG Bartlett led his team of Ben Walters and Garry Williams to get a +13 win and take the winning money for the day against Graeme Ireland, Tony Baker and Bob Millard. Tony had the misfortune to have a wrong bias and in doing so was the first to 'hit the tin' and in all future games any player putting his bowl down on the wrong bias will be required to add to the total which will eventually go to a local charity. Runners up for the day were Brian Williams, (whose ticker is back in normal rhythm) Dallas Hammond and Guy Watts with a +10 against Peter Williams, Mick Hollebone and Tim Richardson.
In other games Col Watson, John Magree and Peter Tutty won over Peter Holden, Dick Connell and Col Webster and Col Hinton, Barry Kershaw and Bryan Page got up over Warwick Lewis, Mal Cannon and Jake Kennett.
JOHN Black and Alan Cox put it all together with a +11 to win the event when they came up against Mal Cannon and Lotty Dennes. Runners up were Glen Dennes and Judy Stone with a +10 over Peter Holden and Norma Platt. Karen Charlton (who came from Wee Waa) and Bob Smith of Taree collected the 'lucky' card money even though they went down to Elaine Holden and Greg Walker. In triples game Jim Gillogly, Mick Hollebone and Lillian Cross got home against Narelle Foy, Carmen Smith and Peter Tutty with a +10.
THE winning team for the day were Chris Kane, John Hones and Ben Walters when they came up against Graeme Ireland, Leonie Gilford and Dallas Hammond.
