STUDENTS of Elands public school had some interesting visitors recently. They were very excited to meet Narelle Campbell and her dog Gus and to hear some amazing stories.
Narelle hails from Wingham but spends most of her time in Antarctica. She has managed Mawson, Davis and Macquarie Island stations over the past few years.
The children were enthralled by the talk she gave about life in Antarctica. They were equally entertained by Gus her dog.
Gus was part of an introduced animal eradication program on Macquarie Island. He had an accident, falling off a cliff and damaging his back while hunting rats. Although retired he still responds to commands related to his previous work and eagerly showed off his abilities much to everyone's amusement.
