Gearing up for the 2013-2014 cricket season!
Wingham Senior Cricket Club is gearing up for the 2013 -2014 cricket season, by electing a new committee, selecting coaches, and working on the pitch.
The club held its AGM on Wednesday August 21 and the following committee was voted in: president - Michael Stinson, vice president - Scott Blanch, treasurer- Michael Roohan, secretary - Adam Carney.
Other general committee positions include public officer- Wayne Smoothy, social - Lee Niven, publicity officer - Catherine Craig-Dobson.
Captains for the various grades were selected and are: First Grade - Adam Carney; Second Grade - Matthew Essery, Third Grade - Paul Kelly. Training will be held on Thursday afternoons after the U16s' training session.
Over the last few weeks work has been done at Cedar Party Cricket Reserve and last Saturday the club got together to relay turf around the wicket square.
The square has been scarified and top dressed in readiness for the upcoming season.
The club is looking forward to a successful and positive season and is getting things under way with a practice session at the nets this Saturday, September 7, at 12pm followed by a barbecue.
