PREPARATIONS are well underway for the Grand Scottish Concert to be held at the Wingham Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Farquhar Street, Wingham, this Sunday, September 8, at 2pm.
The concert will be the closing event of a day commemorating the 500th anniversary of "the Battle of Flodden" and recognition of "the Scottish Soldier."
Concert organiser and master of ceremonies, George Hoad, is 'singing the praises' of the performers assembled for the concert, featuring old favourites and introducing some exciting new talent.
"I'm honoured to be organising this special concert and delighted with the line up of talent that will be performing on Sunday," George enthuses.
The ever popular Wingham Services Club Pipes and Drums will be opening the event and 'setting the mood' for a wonderful afternoon's entertainment.
Returning to Wingham will be Kantabile, under the direction of Cate Jeffree, Juen van Hand's String Beings and The Laurieton Voices, another wonderful local choir, conducted by James Hannah, will also be featured in the concert. George Hoad will lead the audience in a rousing sing-a-long to conclude the event.
Tickets are only $8 per person, with children under 10 years free and afternoon tea will be available for a gold coin donation. Bookings at "Bent on Life", Isabella Street, Wingham.
