THERE'S only a few days to go before Wingham`s "Salute to Scotland" on Sunday.
Three special events will be held on that day, each one commemorating 500 years of significant Scottish history - the Battle of Flodden and recognition of the Scottish soldier, both occurring in the year 1513.
Under the auspices of the Manning Valley Historical Society organisers have put together a special program featuring a Church Service at St Andrews Presbyterian Church commencing at 9.30am, a Gala Scottish lunch at the Wingham Services Club at midday and a Grand Scottish Concert at the Wingham Catholic Church at 2pm.
All welcome but book now at the club for the lunch and at Bent on Life for the concert so you do not miss out.
Event co-ordinator Eric Richardson is delighted with the local support the program has received.
"Local people have enthusiastically embraced the concept and we anticipate having a number of visitors from outside the area", he said.
"While we are commemorating hallmarks of Scottish history we are also remembering and celebrating the district`s strong Scottish heritage," he added.
