CLUB triples - At the half-way mark in the game between Tom Moore, Laurie Mullen and Tor Proctor against Chris Kane, Dick Connell and Bill Leadbeater, Chris held a handy lead of 10 shots (15-5), but the scene changed.
Tom and his men then took control by winning all but 2 of the remaining ends to run our winners 23-18.
They now meet Rex Dawson's team this Saturday in the semi and the other is between Daniel Leadbeater's crew and that of Jake Hinton. Jake, playing with Col Watson and John Hones made sure of their spot when they steamrolled Brian and Peter Williams and Col Hinton 30-8.
District pairs - Representing our Club were Peter Holden and John Hones and they reached the semis by putting Lansdowne and Forster out of the event, however they went down to Gloucester who played Harrington in the final.
Wednesday social - Winners for the day were Jim Gillogly, Peter Williams and Guy Watts who held the upper hand throughout to have a +17 against John Black, Brian Williams and Jake Kennett.
Brian had some degree of trouble against his son Peter who kept his bowls close to the 'jack' while Brian found the ditch on many occasions and it took him some time to clean his bowls.
The situation has got to Brian and he had an appointment with a heart specialist at St Vincents this week. Runners up were Greg Bartlett, Mal Cannon and Rex Thomas with a +9 over Warwick Lewis, Stan Burnell-Jones and John Macgree.
Coming in with a +7 were Graeme Ireland and Dallas Hammond over Col Hinton and Tim Richardson. Daniel Leadbeater, Dick Connell and Bob Craig had a +6 win over Terry Smith (Old Bar visitor), Eric Weir and Mick Hollebone.
Missing from the green last week was Gerry De Pyper who insists he wishes to get to a 100, so he went off to Newcastle to have a pace-maker fitter - get well soon Gerry.
Friday mixed - Winners for the event were George Floyd, Janet Nash and Guy Watts with a +8 against Glen Dennes, Peter Tutty and June Pedron.
In other games Jim Gillogly and Denise Polley got a +7 against Ron Lollback and Elaine Holden and playing out a draw were Mick Hollebone with Judy Stone against Alan Cox and Lotty Dennes.
Saturday social - Winning the day were Col Hinton, Eric Weir and Mick Hollebone who had a +10 against Graeme Ireland, Peter Williams and Peter Wilson. In remaining games Peter Hall, Dick Connell and Dallas Hammond got up by a shot against Col Watson, Daniel Leadbeater and Snow Tremchard and ending up with 19 shots apiece were Jim Gillogly, Barry Smith and Guy Watts against Rex Dawson, Howard Snelson and Col Webster.
