MONDAY August 19 marked the 26th birthday for the Wingham Brush Day Club.
We had a pink theme for the day and it was fantastic to see everyone wearing something pink, including our friends visiting from other Day Clubs from Taree and Old Bar. It's great to get all of our friends together for such important occasions.
Day Clubs are a place of meeting and socializing for seniors in the community. At 10am Monday mornings people can come along and meet new friends, we have gentle exercises, card games and bingo.
There are fresh preserves and books for sale also.
We have some volunteers here with us that have been here for over 20 years and they just love it. For $4 we can pick you up from home, provide morning tea and a two course lunch, entertainment from local singers and performers, a game of Hoy and Bingo and drop you back to your front door, if needed.
Volunteers prepare all the food on the premises, and a lot of the time they're using recipes handed down from generation to generation including that special ingredient that remains a secret to this day.
The Day Club is working very hard on getting bus drivers to drive the local community buses because these buses are integral for us to pick up our members.
We have day trips away a couple of times a year too.
If anyone is interested in joining us you are most welcome, please contact Robyn Forbes on 6553 4363 or Max Cross 6553 4151 or come along to the Masonic Hall in Primrose St Wingham at 10am every Monday morning.
Volunteers are also welcome, especially if you can drive a bus.
