LOCK the Gate Alliance President Drew Hutton will be the keynote speaker at a Call to Country meeting in Taree next Tuesday.
The Taree meeting has been arranged by Manning Clean Water Action Group Inc (MCWAG), an LTGA member organisation.
Paul Lewers from Bobin, a committee member of (MCWAG), said “the upcoming Call to Country meeting at Taree Uniting Church Hall on August 20 is a vital opportunity for us to join with thousands of people across Australia in a national campaign against inappropriate mining.
“The meeting will also include an introduction to the Lock the Gate Alliance and the CSG-Free Communities campaign. This is about local communities, at the grass roots level, declaring themselves to be Gasfield-Free.”
“Unless we join together as a community the danger from mining exploration and production to the places we call home will be all too real. It is vital that our community is not exposed to damage to our wonderful rivers, creeks and streams or to other social and environmental impacts of inappropriate mining or CSG extraction.”
