$1200 for fire brigade

A COMMUNITY fundraiser at Mooral Creek has seen more than $1200 raised for training and safety equipment at Mooral Creek Fire Brigade.

At a recent fire brigade meeting, Mooral Creek fire brigade captain, Andy Gatehouse mentioned the brigade could do with some gear and that times were getting tight.

Many of the Mooral Creek Hall and Progress Association committee are also members of the fire brigade, or have a partner who is.

On the spot the president decided he would call a meeting which was unanimous supported, with the idea of the Mooral Creek Hall holding a fundraiser event and donating the proceeds to the fire brigade.

“Some ideas were bandied about on the spot. A few days later the meeting was held and it was decided to hold a pool competition and barbecue,” president of Mooral Creek Hall and Progress Association and fire brigade member, Paul Segal said.

The fundraiser was held on Saturday, February 16 with over 50 people enjoying the event.

Most of the food was donated. The pool competition was fiercely contested by teams of two. The winners were Jim and Jane Coulduck, who generously donated the $100 prize to the night’s takings. A number of local residents and businesses who could not attend also donated money, including Machin's Sawmill, D and L Renovations and Coles Wingham.
