A JOINT Wingham Football Club premier league side travelled to Tomago in Newcastle to play a pre-season trial match against the Thornton Park Red Backs.
Playing three 25 minute halves, rotating new players, testing positions and finding team chemistry, Wingham went down 1-0 off an unfortunate deflection from Daniel Ihlow on his 21st birthday.
Wingham premier league will play another trial match on the Central Coast against Budgewoi in mid-March. Anyone interested in playing should come along to a couple of training sessions. The team trains Tuesdays to Thursdays from 6pm.
Registrations are now open, on Fridays February 8 and 16 from 4pm until 6pm and Saturday February 9 and 17 from 9am until noon.
People can register at the Wingham Bowling Club and become part of the 2013 squads. Be sure to sign up before it’s too late. The club always welcomes and is looking for new players.
Wingham FC is also looking to hold a grass roots coaching course to provide people with the knowledge and skills to coach a junior football team. Not only is the club looking for players but cadet referees. If you’re between the ages of 10-12 and think you have a sharp eye, you may be the candidate the club’s looking for.
Contact for these positions can be made to Bruce Hammond on 6553 5905 or 0400 215 150.
