Doggone ... Buddy mongrels make off with pricey pup

Buddy, the incredibly cute puppy, has been stolen from Pets Paradise Melbourne Central in a brazen daylight robbery.

Pets Paradise staff told police a man, woman and small child were in the store when Buddy - who had a price tag of $1200 - was taken on Sunday afternoon.

The woman distracted a staff member while the man opened an enclosure to grab the 12-week-old black and white Cavalier shih-tzu cross puppy.

The couple then left the store without paying for Buddy.

Investigators are now combing through CCTV footage downloaded from the store's security camera.

The man is described as white and aged in his late 20s. He was wearing sunglasses, grey shorts and a white singlet.

The woman is also white, aged in her mid to late 20s. She has brown hair, and was wearing jeans with a white singlet and a number of long necklaces around her neck.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
