A week after the annual prize meeting, which is currently the largest attended prize shoot in Australia, the women of the Wingham Rifle Club continued to perform above their male club members.
An enthusiastic 22 shooters turned up to compete at the 300m Club Championship range and junior representative Bronte Thurtell continued her outstanding form to be one of only two to shoot perfect scores. Bronte shot two stages of 50-5 for a total of 100.10 to easily win the B grade and come second overall to the A grade winner, Wendy Moon, who top scored the range with the only other 100.
To complete the trifecta, Bev Rogerson top scored the F Class standard with a score of 109-6 and also won the handicap event for the day.
In individual stages, Peter Thurtell shot an outstanding 50-9 and in the B grade, club stalwart, Brian Mavin shot a very solid 50.7.
In the F class standard, Chris Burdett had a disastrous first stage, but recovered with a very good 59.3 / 60.
In the Handicap event, (won by Bev), runner up was Bronte and in 3rd place was Brian Mavin.
