Wingham Rifle Club endure the heat

10 Jan, 2012 12:57 PM
DUE to very warm, humid conditions, with heat haze on the long distance range of 800 metres, there were only average scores with the exception of A grade shooter Steve Southwell, who consistently shoots good scores every week.

A grade was won by Steve Stouthwell with a total score of 99.15, a terrific effort on the day.

B grade was taken out by Brian Mavin who again was too good for the rest of the field.

C Grade had Chris Barnard turning the tables on Keith Gleeson for a change. Chris Barnard had a solid second round of 47.5 for a total of 90.6, and Keith Gleeson followed with 88.3.

F Class was won by Jim Blackmore with 108.3, Tony Galati on 102.1, Mike Rogerson 101.2, Phil Costa 100.3 and Barry White 96.2.

The handicap trophy was won by newcomer to the sport Tony Galati, who is improving each week.

Visitors from the Cessnock Rifle Club, Rod Davies and John Peters, came to try their rifles and scopes on the 800 metre range and shot reasonable scores.

Next week is 1000 yards.
