A large roll-up of locals and visitors turned up on Saturday to contest the 300-metre championship range and records were again broken.
Outstanding was Bronte Thurtell who won the handicap event with a beautiful score of 100.10.
She broke the junior record, previously held by Nathan Eagles, for both stages and the total score by over two points.
Jim Black broke the B-grade record with 100.10 previously held by Denis Cuneo. Steve Southwell hit it hard in A grade with 100.15.
In the F-class, Mike Rogerson shot really well with scores of 54 and 56 for a total of 110.
Previous Wingham Rifle Club member, Bev Fonk and partner Greg Murrels (now members of Port Macquarie Rifle Club), turned up for a visit and a shoot.
Bev started slowly after not having shot for some time but fired a nice 48.3 for her second stage.
A number of Wingham Rifle Club members who are in top form will be travelling to Sydney for the New South Wales Queen’s event in a few weeks.
Next week’s shoot will be held at the 300m range again, giving members a chance to record a good score before the hot weather sets in.
