Under 7s
THE under 7s played Forster Hawks at home on Saturday, and the boys didn't take long to get into the game.
The Hawks team ran the ball up early and it took some good defence and great team work to stop them.
Blake Minton, Grady Lewis and Logan Smith tackled hard all game to make some crucial tackles, whilst Travis Fazio, Ben Bird, Cooper Staff and Beau Brown ran the ball hard and managed to get around the defence at different stages of the game. Daniel Pereira had an outstanding game with some big runs and great tackles.
Sam McIntosh (1), Thomas Martin (1), Daniel Pereira (3) darted through Forster defence to score some great tries. In great form Travis Fazio and Sam McIntosh converted one each.
The boys enjoyed themselves and had a great game. Well done!
Under 9s
BOTH Wingham under 9s teams travelled away last weekend for their games.
Wingham Gold took on Lake Cathie and played very strongly scoring plenty of tries for the match.
The team shared the points around with almost each player crossing the line at some stage, some more than once.
Black went to Port Macquarie to take on the Sharks and these boys too played some of their best footy for the season, defending stronger and running harder.
Defence was the key in this game, and the Tigers muscled up well, tackling strongly all game.
Under 12s
THE Wingham Tigers under 12s had a good win last Saturday at the Sporting Complex against the Forster Hawks.
The first half was close, with both teams pushing for some advantage, but the Tigers had the Hawks covered in attack and defence, keeping them scoreless till late in the second half.
Try scorers for the Tigers were Jessie O'Conner, Ben Crowe, Dylan Webster and Michael King.
Nick Brown was one of the best on the field, running the ball forward and laying the platform for the backs to run.
Michael King rampaged up the middle at will to cut through the defence easily at times.
Dylan Webster also had one of his best games for the year.
Big thanks to Cooper Lewis and Jai Slaven, who backed up from the under 11s to fill in for the match and played out of their skins.
Final score was a 22 to 4 win to Wingham in a great team effort.
Under 15s
THE Tigers under 15s played the Taree Red Rovers at the Taree Rec Ground and came away with a resounding 34 to 14 win.
The TIgers tackled well all day, however the most pleasing aspect if the match was the discipline and attitude.
This team is building a strong platform for the semi finals and will be very hard to stop provided they can keep their minds on the job ahead of them.
Blake Skys had had a big game in defence with some wonderful low tackling. Joey Young at fullback was a tower of strength, he just gets better every week and is always safe and reliable.
Nathan Gillies and Kane Beattie were strong up front and Brodie Myers played his usual mistake-free game at hooker. James Neverov on the wing is the big improver - he is great to watch and has a good attitude.
Try scorers for the match were Blake Skys, Zac Brown, Joey Young, Jake Mullins, Georden Smith and Kane Beattie.
Under 16s
ONCE again the under 16 Tigers have proven genuine finals contenders with a strong 16 points to 4 win over first place Taree Panthers at the Wingham Sporting Complex last Thursday night.
The team’s second half form was impeccable with their last 11 sets completed fully without error!
Mitch Barnett lead by example topping the run count, even spending 10 minutes in the bin.
Scott Williams topped the tackle count by far ,cutting the Panthers down easily, with some great back up from Christian Hazard and Bill Murray, whose defence was crushing.
Garyn Burns and Tom Collins muscled up on their line to keep the Panthers from crossing more than once.
Form has come at the right end of the season for the team and should continue if the team keep their positive attitude.
