08 Sep, 2009 01:25 PM
The Wingham Tigers had a strong representation at the 2009 Group Three Player of the Year Awards held at the Wingham Services Club on Saturday.

Tigers captain-coach Nigel Latham was named in the centres for the Group Three Team of the Year.

This is the ninth time this team has been named and Nigel has made the team a record seven times.

For the second year running, the Tigers produced the reserve grade most improved player in Chris Butler.

A number of Tigers players made the final voting in the Player of the Year awards in their respective grades:

* First grade – Andrew Gilbert, Dave Corbet and Joe Southwell

* League tag – Rhiannan Fuller

* Under 18s – Beau Collins

The Tigers season will culminate with their own presentation night this Saturday at the Wingham Bowling Club.

Cost is $25 per head or $20 for under 18s.

The event kicks off at 6pm.
