Under 7s

THE Under 7s played Old Bar under warm and sunny conditions on Saturday, the boys didn't take long to get into the game.

The Old Bar team ran the ball up hard early and it took some good defence and great team work to stop them.

Blake Minton, Grady Lewis and Logan Smith tackled hard all game to make some crucial tackles, whilst Sam McIntosh, Travis Fazio, Ben Bird and Beau Brown ran the ball hard and managed to get around the defence at different stages of the game.

Cooper Staff celebrated his 7th birthday and had an outstanding game with some big runs and great tackles, while Daniel Pereira was as consistent as always with some good running and hard tackling.

Thomas Martin, Grady Lewis and Daniel Pereira darted through Old Bar defence to score a try each to equal Old Bar team. In great form Travis Fazio converted one of these tries.

The boys enjoyed themselves and had a great game. Well done!

Under 9s Black

THE under 9s Black played a strong game of football against the Forster Hawks at the Sporting Complex last Saturday. It’s been a long time since the whole team has played together but once they settled in to the game things slowly came together. Callum Berry was handy to have back after an injury absence. Stephen Buddle was unstoppable up front and ran very hard all game. Kieren Levi, Joel Perrin and Michael O'Neill continued the strong running and at times ran through the defense.Todd Barnard and Harrison Smith worked hard at the legs of the Hawks making some good tackles.Harry Lewis was outstanding, especially after already playing a game beforehand with 9s gold! Great effort boys!

Under 9s Gold

THE under 9s Gold were very impressive last Saturday in their game against the Port Macquarie Sharks. None of their skills went by the wayside over the holiday break and the team was strong all over the paddock!Kurt Fowles, Nash Atkins and captain Josh Mctaggart darted around the defense easily throughout the match.Tom Anderson, after a bout of sickness was strong up front, running the ball hard for the team. Ryan Kriss and Kane Horsington were illusive at times and proved hard to tackle for the Sharks. Harry Lewis and Hudson Bird were tackling machines, cutting down the runners at the legs often. Chris Katsamangos is growing in confidence by the week and improved his form two fold. Plenty of great tries were scored in this match!

Under 12s

AFTER two weeks away from football the boys were keen to get back and try to return to their last year’s great form. They went up against their old rivals Old Bar and a very entertaining game prevailed. In the first half the boys were slow to get off the mark and Old Bar dominated the game. Old Bar scored first but Wingham replied with a try to Jordan Morgan Saxby. Old Bar responded quickly and we went into half time down 8-4. The boys came back out in the second half and played some of their best football of the year. This game was a huge improvement in all areas with the defence of the boys being outstanding. Tries in the second half were scored by Ben Crowe and Josh Essery who had a great game as hooker. Old Bar also scored a try in the second half to level the score at 12-12. No goals were converted by either team. This result was a big effort for the boys as they were down one player for most of the match. Well done boys.

Under 15s

THE Wingham Tigers under 15s were at home on Saturday against Camden Haven. In an exciting game, the Tigers got up 20 to 18. The Tigers went into the game down on players, and they came up against a full-strength Camden Haven side. At half-time the scores were locked at 10-all thanks to two tries from Aiden Ellem. Camden Haven were first to score after the break, but the Tigers regrouped and never quit. Aiden Ellem scored again, and backed up by a committed defence, the Tigers pushed on. Jake Mullen was outstanding in attack and defence. Aaron Beecroft was again a tower of strength and Tim Bridge is developing into a top-class halfback. The Tigers did not have a bad player on the field and were well lead by captain Zac Brown. Player's player was Jake Mullen.

Under 16s

THE Tigers under 16s’ late season form continued last Saturday at Port Macquarie with an overwhelmingly strong win over the Port Breakers. It was a try-a-thon for the boys who stamped their authority on the match early and continued this way for the entire game. Jacob Lonsdale was outstanding in hitting the line 17 times, reaping rewards with 3 tries. Mitch Barnett too was rampaging at the defense all game. Scott Williams, Tom Collins and Cristian Hazard tackled the life out of the Breakers, cutting them down all too often at will. Mitch Slaven was consistent up the middle, well backed up by Matt Prior and Bill Muray. Final score was 44 to 10.
