Under 9s gala day
THE Wingham Tigers under 9s combined their two teams for the season ending gala day at Port Macquarie on Sunday.
The boys played three great games of footy against some good opposition, and had a great morning which included a free sausage sanga and a drink for their strong efforts.
Ryan Kriss was outstanding in all games, taking the ball up like a true forward as we were without our two front rowers for the day. Harry Smith was in his best form, with some good backup from Kurt Fowles, Josh McTaggart and Harry Lewis.

THE Tigers were at Forster on Saturday playing in the major semi final against Forster and were eventual winners 24 to 18 despite being behind by 12 points in the later stages of the first half.
The Tigers were running into a strong wind and Forster, making good use of the conditions, made raid after raid on the Tigers line. For the visitors, Jake Mullen scored a brilliant try to make it only a six point difference at half time.
The Tigers were first to score after the break with a determined try by centre Aiden Ellem who had a great game in both attack and defence.
The Tigers were in again soon after with a try to fullback Joey Young.
Ten minutes later halfback Tim Bridge had his best game of the year, revelling in his role at halfback and scoring a try.
The last ten minutes were very exciting until the Tigers scored a late try to put the outcome beyond doubt.

Under 16s
THE Tigers took on the Forster Hawks in the final round of the season proper at Wingham Sporting Complex. Although the result didn’t affect the Tigers position on the ladder, they still wanted to put in a good effort in front of their home crowd.
After numerous mistakes in the first 15 minutes of play, the Tigers showed outstanding defence to propel several attacking raids from the Hawks. Some good go forward from Jacko and Barney and more crunching defence from Bill Murray saw the Tigers go to the break leading 12-nil. With an early penalty goal and a second try to Critta, the Tigers soon raced out to a 20-nil lead.
After going into the match short on players and an early injury to another, the boys started to tire, but they dug deep with more solid defence from Tyler, Braydon and Blake Proctor, repelling the Hawks again and again.
Although the Hawks grabbed two late tries, the defence throughout the match from the young Tigers more than impressed the coach and supporters.
This was a good team effort with all players contributing to the victory. The Tigers now go into the semis next week showing some good form. Players player was Mitch Barnett.
