Rain on Friday night? Must be touch season

27 Oct, 2009 12:33 PM
It wasn't hard to tell that touch had started on Friday night as the players enjoyed a large storm just before kick off at the Wingham Sporting Complex.

Despite the damp start, the night went ahead.

This season, there are 31 registered teams playing in the Wingham Summer Touch competition.

Friday night saw a few forfeits for various reasons.

There are a few changes to the set-up this season.

Registrations can be paid as an individual payment, not like the team payments experienced in the past. Players can come to the canteen area and pay their $50 within the next three weeks.

After that your name will appear on the score sheet with yellow line through it and you will not take the field.

Please make an effort to comply with this rule.

Wingham Touch has full bar facilities and a barbecue every Friday night.

The competition is family-orientated with a focus on young players and the promotion of a great game.

Very soon there will be referee courses available to players to enhance their skills.

Keep an eye on the website (winghamtouch.com.au) for details.

It is illegal for people to bring alcohol to the grounds and this will be policed this season.

The following are some results from last Friday night:

Men’s grade

* Up In Uhe Air (7) defeated ITS Clowns (6), in a close fought game

* Assure Insurance (7) defeated Team Extreme (4)

* Soap Droppers (9) had a big win over Saltwater Wine (4)

Mixed grade

* Old Folks (4) defeated Alice Orrock (3)

* Cam Smith (6) defeated Clippers (3)

* Kiah and Kodee’s team (3) defeated Team Dynamite (1).
