The Anderson family of Wingham has returned with some new trophies and ribbons after the Australian Stock Horse National Championships at Scone.
Aaron Anderson, 12, was named the overall winner in the under 13s section after placing first in the hack and working sections, third in the time trial and second in the campdraft.
His sister Brooke, 10, also performed strongly placing second in the working section and first in the campdraft.
Aaron claimed his prizes riding Sylvia Vale Trinity, a gelding, while Brooke rode Talawahl Serenade, a horse loaned by family friend Vicki Evans of Dyers Crossing.
This was the first time Brooke had competed on the mare.
These latest wins will be added to the family’s already crammed trophy cabinet. Brooke said the best thing about competing in these events is the fun she has while riding. She also has opportunities to make friends from schools other than Wingham Public, which she attends.
The two talented riders will now turn their attention to the Glowalman Championships – a series of rodeo and campdrafting events held at Gloucester, Nabiac and Wingham during July.
