Bunkers to bias

23 Feb, 2010 12:09 PM
THE sun shone and the laughs flowed freely for what was another fantastic David Steel Memorial Golf and Bowls Day on Sunday.

A field of 64 Wingham league supporters, players and old boys took part in the festivities, which stretched from the fairways of the Wingham Golf Course in the morning to the greens of Wingham Bowling Club in the afternoon.

The casual sporting event is an annual competition held in the memory of well-known Wingham identity David Steel.

Winners of the David Steel Memorial Trophy were Team Superstar, comprising of Corey Sheehan, Michael Richards, Jake Goward and Ben McLeod.

“It was a fantastic day,” Wingham Tigers secretary Wayne Goward said.

“It’s a casual event where players, suppporters and old boys can get together and bond a bit before the start of the season.

“We usually manage to have a few laughs too.”
