Over the Easter long weekend, 12 Manning Archers packed up their swags and archery gear and travelled south to Mallee Sunset Archery Club in Mildura to compete in the National Titles.
Held over four days with 360 archers competing and most people shooting in both the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) round and the 3D (three-dimensional) round, it made for a very challenging weekend with some very fierce competition between zones and clubs.
The days were hot and dry and the ranges were dusty and very deceiving, making for a challenging shoot with no archer getting the perfect 400. However, one Manning Valley archer, Wes Bull, shot 398.
Local winners and placings in their individual divisions are as follows:
Juniors ABA and 3D: Ella Hartcher – 1st, 1st; Jack Bull – 4th, 6th; Jack Brett – 3rd, 3rd; Adam Mowbray – 2nd, 1st; James Fotheringham – 3rd, 1st.
Seniors ABA and 3D: Liam Mowbray – 1st, 1st; Mark Mowbray – 3rd, 1st; Wes Bull – 2nd, 3rd; Tony Hartcher – 3rd, Mark Fotheringham – 11th, 5th; Bob Wilson – 5th.
