WEDNESDAY vets had to be keen golfers last week as damp cool conditions made for unpleasant play, however retired schoolie Peter Tait had no problems, his net 62 way too good for everyone else.
Great round Taity. Another ex schoolie Alex Wilson was next with net 68 followed by Tony Shelley with a 69. Tony’s precision shot to win the nearest the pin on the 3/12 helped his cause, and John Aldous did likewise to win the 7/16. Merv Philp won the putting competition with 12 putts from nine holes.
Unpleasant conditions again prevailed on Thursday and chook run players were hard to find. Of those who did venture out, Terry Thompson with 22 points and Richard Dudgeon 21 emerged the winners. NTP winner were Terry again on the third and Dallas Chapman on the seventh.
Saturday was a single stableford event with Corey Moore winning the day with 43 well compiled points.
This was Corey’s first win for a while but thoroughly deserved. Dallas Chapman won A-grade net with 41 points and former Laos Rugby Union representative Mone Vilayrack did likewise in B-grade with 42 points. Greg Stacey won C-grade, also with 41 points. Scratch winners included Geoff Blanch in A-grade (Rod Brown must have been away), Trevor Martin somehow won B-grade, and former Wingham Tiger, Brad Staff won C-grade. Ball winners went out to 32 on a countback. Two ladies played, Sharon Bell just beating Debbie Stewart.
NTPs were popular again, the Plaza Butchers 1/10 won by Mitch Pedron with would you believe a drive and then a three wood after his massive drive. The 23/12 was won by Scott Blanch and Dallas Chapman then cleaned up the Bayview Seafoods 7/16 and also the Bent on Food 9/18. The 4/13 was not claimed and now jackpots.
This Saturday is a 2BBB plus individual with round two of the Mid Coast Bearing knockout and round one of the Drummond Golf trophy also scheduled. Hopefully we will get some sunny weather. Good luck and good golfing to all.
