 Knockout round packs a punch

Knockout round packs a punch

20 Jul, 2010 01:52 PM
WEDNESDAY veterans held an 18 hole individual stableford this week with three players all recording 38 points. Winner was Ross Townsend from Taree on a countback from popular locals Ron Wilson and Gordon McClusky. Bad luck boys. Nearest the pin winners were Bill Millward on the 3rd/12th and Geoff Swaffield on the 7th/16th.

Thursday chook run players enjoyed the sunshine with Graham Steel somehow winning the day with 21 points from his very generous handicap (not enough to win a ‘skin’ however). In round 13 of the ‘battle of the sexes’, the female opposition did not turn up, so a forfeit was claimed. The very consistent Richard Dudgeon was next with 20 points beating Ken Squires and Dallas Chapman on a countback. Dallas Chapman won the NTP on the 3rd/12th as did Richard Dudgeon on the 7th/16th.

Saturday was the second round of the Mid Coast Bearing knockout and also round one of the Drummond Golf Trophy and some interesting scores emerged. Jason Fowles and Murray McCartney continued their recent good form to combine to win the two-ball best ball with 49 big points. John Aldous and Adrian Yeo were runners-up also with 49. In the individual event visitor and Drummond Golf sponsor D Henderson from Port Macquarie won A-grade with 39 points, Jason Fowles B-grade with 40 points and James King won C-grade with 41 points.

NTP winners were Daniel Stone on the Plaza Butchers 1st/10th, Jason Fowles the 3rd/12th, Dave Irvine won the Bayview Seafoods 7th/16th and Daniel Stone made it a double for the day also winning the Bent on Food voucher on the 9th/18th. Again the 4th/13th was not claimed and again jackpots.

In the Mid Coast Bearing Knockout matches, the following teams are through to the semi-finals. John Aldous and Adrian Yeo to play Nathan Moore and Daniel Stone, with Terry Grant and Col Motbey to play Chris Kane and John Hynes in the other match. Good luck to all players. These games will be played this week along with round 2 of the Drummond Golf trophy. Good luck and good golfing.
