 It's a knockout!

It's a knockout!

27 Jul, 2010 01:17 PM
A STRONG field of 50-odd veterans played an 18 hole individual stableford last week with one of the club’s best volunteers, Garry Stackman, rewarded for his efforts with an impressive win with 43 points.

Fellow volunteer, Jim Bradshaw was the only other player to reach 40, his 42 good enough for the runner-up spot.

Nearest the pin winners were John Daly on the 3rd/12th and Barry Sky on the 7th/16th.

Thursday chook run players experienced some varied weather but most still managed an enjoyable round with 10 year old Reid Brown shooting a three-over par 39 for 24 points to win the day. Well done Reid. I know at least one disgruntled ‘senior’ golfer who did not want to hear the details of Reid’s round.

Other good scores came from David Blair with 22 points, then Don Gutterson 21 and David Topp also on 21. David Andrews won the NTP on the 3rd as did Earl Braham on the 7th.

Saturday’s event was the second round of the Drummond Golf trophy with Gary Masters and James King winning both Saturday’s event and the overall event with 92 points.

Runner-up on Saturday was the pairing of David Blair and Peter Tait, beaten on a countback with 45 points. Individual winners on Saturday included Dallas Chapman in A-grade with 42 points, Nathan Moore B-grade 41 points and Gary Masters won C-grade with 41 points. We thank Drummond Golf in Port Macquarie for its generous sponsorship of this two week event.

NTP winners were Geoff Blanch on the Plaza Butchers 1st/10th, Tony Henwood 3rd/12th, Geoff Swaffield won the jackpot on the 4th/13th and Alan Bishop stands to get a feed of fish after winning the Bayview Seafoods 7th/16th voucher. Last but not least, Neville Boyd was too good for the rest of the field in winning the Bent on Food voucher on the 9th/18th. Balls went out to 36 on a countback.

The semi-finals of the Mid Coast Bearing Knockout were also held on Saturday with Nathan Moore and Daniel Stone to play John Hynes and Chris Kane in the final.

Also on next Saturday is a medley stableford so any women out there looking for a game, get your name down. Good luck and good golfing.
