Awesome foursomes

24 Aug, 2010 01:30 PM
LAST Saturday was the final round of the Wingham Golf Club foursomes championships.

The numbers were down on previous years but the weather was perfect.

A-grade champions are Glenn Thorburn and AJ Miller with a 36 hole gross of 158 from Geoff Blanch and Paul Knapp on 163. B-grade winners are John Hynes and Earl Braham with a 36 hole gross of 179 from Simon Crowe and Trevor Martin on 183. C-grade winners are Dave Irvine and Bill Osborne with a 36 hole gross of 181 from John Aldous and Barry Neave on 189.

Nearest the pin (NTP) winners were 1st/10th Plaza Butchers Bob Muxlow 2.92; 4th/13th (schooner hole) G Croucher; 7th/16th Bayview Seafoods Trevor Martin 6.50m, 9th/18th Bent on Food Graham Henwood. Balls went to 73.

The best nett score for the day went to Barry Brown and Grey Foy with 66 nett. Almost 60 vets played a stableford for Ces Pedron and Kel and Lorraine Primmer trophies and the winner was Reg Peters with 43 points, Barry Casey went close with 40 points, while T Thompson (39 pts) and Alan Bishop (38 pts) played well. NTP 3rd Terry Morris and 7th Syd Gilfillan.

The Thursday chook run was won by Sharon Jouzaitis 23 points, Syd Gilfillan 22 pts and Dave Andrews 21 pts. NTP winners were 3rd John Thorburn, 7th Ken Squires.

In the battle of the sexes the male partner is not happy about the female winning the last couple of rounds so he didn’t turn up! (Not really he had family commitments – the female is doing this report, ha ha revenge is sweet).

The junior championships were finalised on August 15 with the winner being Mitch Pedron with a 36 hole gross of 171 from Reid Brown on 185 and nett winner was Nick Thompson. The nine-hole champion is Sam Kriss with an 18-hole gross of 114 from Mitch Niven 116 and nett winner was Hudson Summerfield.

Next Saturday play is an Irish 4BBB so get your team of four together for a bit of fun and frustration.
