PREPARATIONS for the 2012 soccer season have begun, with the first meeting held at the Wingham Services Club on January 15.
Club president, Paul MisCamble encouraged all players to now think about dusting off their boots, as training for the senior men’s side has begun on Tuesday nights 6-7pm at the Wingham sporting grounds. All interested players for this team are invited to attend.
Registrations for the junior sides will take place at the Wingham Bowling Club this year in the first three weeks of February, with play to start in late April.
The registrations will run on Friday nights 5-6pm and Saturday morning 9-12pm.
A good roll-up is expected with many sides on a first-come-first placed basis so book your place early. An initiative of the club this year is cheaper registrations for multiple children in the same family, with a 25 per cent discount off normal fees for the second and subsequent members. Check the website www.winghamfc.com for further details.
There has been some early success for the club as well in the selection of a number of junior players into Mid North Coast rep sides. Ewen Adamson and Ben Ihlow were selected for the under 15 State youth league team, while for the under 13s Connor Hughes, Toby O’Donnell, Cameron Luckie and David Gilligan were selected. Selection in the under 11 development side was made by Megan Smith, David Diehm and Matt Luckie. The club congratulates these players for their selection in these sides as each player made an outstanding contribution to their team last year. They wish them every best in their endeavours.
