Riders were able to practise all events and receive valuable advice from guest instructor and show riding judge, Chris Arnold. Club captain, Louise Jenkins, said the aim of the day was to allow the riders and parents, particularly new members, a chance to see how the ribbon and trophy day is run and learn the rules and requirements of each event.
“It takes a huge effort from all members to run this event. We need helpers in all areas from serving in the canteen to timekeeping in sporting events, setting out and packing up equipment and even picking up poles in the showjumping area,” Kayleen McCowan said.
“Fortunately we have grown as a club and have an enthusiastic group of riders and families to pitch in and get the work done.”
Wingham Pony Club has enjoyed an interesting and varied program this year with rodeo western riding, high point dressage days, showjumping, mounted games, cross country eventing, specialised guest instructors and even a fancy dress day.
