B-Grade belt Cundle
WINGHAM’S B-grade cricket side defeated Cundletown by 178 runs in their round 19 clash at Cundletown Oval on the weekend.
Wingham batted first and amassed a massive 5/342 thanks to 111 not out to Tim Rees. Corey Muxlow (70) and Ryan Thompson (61) were the next best scorers.
Wingham then bowled Cundle out in the 19th over for 164 with Tim Rees 3/16 and Adam Carney 2/32 the best performing bowlers.
Wingham will now take on Wherrol Flat at Central Park this weekend in the last round of the competition already knowing that they have secured second place heading into the finals.
Big win for C-grade
THE Wingham C-grade cricket side humbled Old Bar with a 175 run victory at Rec 3 on the weekend.
Jeremy Bartier’s 89 and 44 to both Scott Blanch and Faron Saxby gave Wingham a healthy total of 299 from their 40 overs.
Old Bar in return got off to a good start putting on 63 for the opening partnership, but that was as good as it got for the seasiders with Faron Saxby taking a five-wicket haul, which included four stumpings by wicket keeper Wayne Archer.
Youngster James Neverov took his first senior wicket when he had White caught behind for a duck ending the Old Bar innings at 124.
The C-graders will be watching this week's matches very closely as they have the bye in the final round and only a few points separate them and Taree West from the minor premiership.
