A-graders chase outright victory

27 Oct, 2009 12:32 PM
The Wingham A-grade side will chase an outright victory this Saturday after having Taree West on the ropes last weekend at 8/69 chasing 182.

Ben Cole (66 runs) top-scored for Wingham with Tim Rees (41) and Michael Stinson (38) adding good support.

Taree West in reply are struggling at 8/69 after a devastating opening spell by David Rees saw the young Wingham quick with the figures of 6/17 from his opening seven overs leaving Russell Laing 1/15 and Trevor Bailey 1/16 the other wicket takers.

Taree West will now concentrate on scoring the 38 runs necessary to avoid the follow on.

Unfortunately for Wests, next week will not be any easier for them when promising young bat and off spin bowler Michael Rees returns to the Wingham side after representing Mid North Coast at an under 17s carnival in Newcastle last weekend.
