TAREE Motorcycle Club’s second annual twilight meeting was a raging success on Saturday with the great racing and the presence of three time Superbike world champion Troy Bayliss drawing a massive 2500 people through the gates.

Club vice-president and event organizer, Gavin Penell was thrilled with the success of the event which ran smoothly and without a hitch.

“No major accidents occurred on the night so we saw a lot of spectacular, hard and fast racing,” Gavin said.

“The crowd of more than 2500 was great and food from the canteen was excellent. We owe a huge thanks to all our local sponsorships that made the event happen.”

Gavin indicated the success of this year’s event could ensure that it continues to grow in the coming year’s.

“All local riders where extremely proud of the event and the weather conditions and can’t wait until next year’s event. Hopefully the event next year will be the same as this year’s meeting but with more riders because word is travelling fast”.

Bayliss competed in the unlimited solo open, MX open and pro open events but still found plenty of time to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photos.

He did not complete the unlimited solo, but finished third in the MX open and fourth in the pro open event.

On the track, Wauchope’s Michael Kirkness was the star of the evening winning the unlimited solo open, MX open and pro open events.

Josh Hook, Tony Hyde and Gavin Penell were the best performed locals with Hyde winning the Over 35 years event and finishing second in the MX open and Penell winning the quads A final.

Wingham’s Josh Hook lost out to Kirkness in the unlimited solo open finishing second with a third place in the pro open.
