 Stacky’s strong scoring

Stacky’s strong scoring

10 Nov, 2009 12:10 PM
With everyone praying for rain a week ago, they can stop because I think we have had enough.

It is remarkable how things can change so quickly.

However enough of the whinging and back to golf.

The Wednesday veterans had another good roll-up and scoring was quite good.

The winner was Barry Neave, showing a welcome return to form with a superb 65 nett.

Other good scores came from Alan Hasick, Garry Stackman, Barry Blakeney and Reg Peters all on 68 nett.

Nearest-the-pin (NTP) winners were “Stacky” again on the 3rd/12th and Merv Philp on the 7th/16th.

Sixty players turned up Wednesday afternoon for the popular ambrose and Dan Murray’s team had the round of their lives (5 under par 31) to win by one-twentieth of a shot from Andrew Stone’s Plumbing team and the Young Tigers team captained by Josh Watson.

NTP winner was Mark Thompson.

Other midweek events were severely affected by the rain, however a number of players still managed 20 points each on Thursday.

Of these, the place getters were Sandy Dunn, Phil Vickers and Graham Steel all winning on a countback.

There was no NTP due to the small field, Mark Fotheringham the unlucky player as he was nearest the pin twice.

Saturday’s Taree Motorama Mug unfortunately had to be postponed to this Saturday and an 18-hole individual stableford was held in its place.

The winner was Geoff Swaffield with an unbelievable 42 points, second to Tony Henwood on 38 points and third to Michael Jones on 35 points.

Only one NTP went out and the winner of the Bent On Food voucher was Syd Gilfillan who no doubt will take his wife Rose out for a well-deserved cuppa.

As mentioned earlier, this Saturday is the November Monthly Mug/MRD Electrical Medals/ Kangaroofing Long Drives as well as the fifth and final round of the Oxley Insurance Brokers Stroke trophy.

See you all there.

Good luck and good golfing.
