Art students will get the thrill of seeing their works exhibited for the first time during a show now running at Wingham’s Morland Gallery.
The artworks are from students of Cate Macgowan, who has been teaching at Old Bar for two years and runs one-on-one lessons in drawing, printmaking, painting and digital art for adults and children.
She also has small classes for adults.
There is a wide range of work in this exhibition, with differing levels of skill. Some are beginners; some have mastered one medium and are moving on to experiment with another.
There are linocuts, acrylic paintings, oil paintings, drawings and a couple of three-dimensional works.
In this last term, many students worked on photorealistic drawings and there are some really excellent examples. Some of the work is for sale.
“The goal of this exhibition is for each student artist to experience the process of exhibiting and interacting with an audience,” Cate said.
“This is an important and challenging part of creating art, and all have coped admirably with this. Hopefully their audience will enjoy and appreciate their work as much as I do.
“I get great pleasure from assisting these students in their creative pursuits and encouraging them to follow their paths. All deserve to be commended for all the work and efforts they make, and I hope you will come and see the great results.”
Cate will also have a couple of digital pieces on display.
The exhibition runs from today until November 29.
The opening, which all are welcome to attend, will be at 4pm on Saturday.
