Wingham is still on a high after our very own Australian Idol contestant James Johnston returned home for a triumphant concert in Central Park last week.
Although the performance was less than a week in the planning, James’ local supporters came out in their hundreds to hear the 18-year-old sing.
The crowds included everyone from screaming primary schoolers to appreciative seniors – all clamouring together in support of James.
Amazingly, his parents and the program’s producers managed to keep the concert a secret from the Cedar Party lad.
The impromptu numbers he performed with Wingham High School band The Hydrafonics were met with ecstatic approval by the audience and James stayed well into the evening to meet with fans and sign autographs.
The footage taken from the afternoon was broadcast on the show Sunday night when we watched James gain entry to the competition’s top five.
His two numbers – Mercy by Duffy and Use Somebody by Kings of Leon – were generally well received by the judges but as the contest reaches the pointy end, James needs your support more than ever.
Voting has been extended till midnight Friday so text “james” to 19 10 10 or phone 1902 55 55 61.
