Tigers takes two Group 3 crowns

18 Sep, 2011 03:47 PM
WINGHAM Tigers went to Port Macquarie to play two Group 3 rugby league titles - and came home with two premierships.

The Under 18s began the day in positive fashion with a 30-18 win over Forster-Tuncurry Hawks in what was a sometimes hot-tempered match.

It was even closer in the reserve grade encounter, but the Tigers prevailed 30-22 over Port City Breakers.

The Port Macquarie team had enjoyed a stranglehold on the reserve grade title but the Jordan Saunders-inspired Wingham didn't let reputations stand in the way.

Saunders scored a try double in what was a man of the match performance.
