A spokesperson for McDonald’s has confirmed there are no current plans to build one of the fast food restaurants in Wingham.
A rumour has circulated town that a McDonald’s will be built on the old Hawkins Ford site on the corner of Isabella and Wynter Streets but the spokesperson said there is nothing in the works at this stage.
“We are constantly looking at sites across NSW and the rest of the country, assessing feasibility and opportunities,” the spokesperson said.
“This is an ongoing process and at this point there is nothing to confirm with regard to Wingham.”
The owner-operator of the Taree and Taree South McDonald’s restaurants, Craig Evans, also told the Chronicle there were no plans for a Wingham Macca’s, as far as he was aware.
There was also widespread speculation that a McDonald’s Express – a smaller version of the restaurant – had signed up for an outlet in the renovated Wingham Plaza.
The centre’s leasing agent, David Munro, confirmed to the Chronicle last month that this is untrue.
