MOUNT George is not usually a place you associate the latest internet and communication technology with.
But with the completion of the school's fibre-optic computer network, and the addition of two brand new interactive smart boards, all 30 Mount George Public School students are now connected with the rest of New South Wales - and effectively the world.
A total $300,000 worth of school funding upgrades have been completed at Mount George School over the past month, including a massive cabling upgrade between each of the school's buildings.
School principal Peter Johnston described the upgrades as an exciting time for Mount George students.
"The possibilities really are endless in terms of what we can do with technology nowadays," he said.
"There are facilities in place in our schools that could one day be used to link with any classroom in the world. Imagine our kids speaking with teachers from other countries and cultures! It is an exciting time to be involved in education. It is a new era.
“It kind of makes me wish I was a kid again!"
